September Farm Cheese │ 5287 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, PA
In 2007, September Farm began making artisanal cheeses with milk produced on their family farm. From their first batch of fresh mozzarella made in their farmhouse kitchen, the Rotelle family knew they had created something special. Since then, business has taken off, and September Farm moved their operations to Honey Brook along Route 322, to include a state-of-the-art cheese manufacturing plant, as well as a market, bakery and sandwich shop. You can taste their commitment to quality in every bite! In addition to their popular cheddars, they also offer specialty flavors such as Cajun cheese curds and Jumpin' Jack Jalapeno.
Misty Creek Goat Dairy │ 43 West Eby Road, Leola, PA
Misty Creek Dairy has been producing delicious cheeses made from their farm-fresh goat milk since 2003 and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and excellence in all their products. Handcrafted in small, artisan batches, the cheeses made on this Amish-owned farm are European-inspired. From colby and cheddar to Muenster and blue, Misty Creek Dairy has an impressive selection of fromagerie cheeses that make them a must-visit destination for any cheese lover. (Tip: The Misty Lovely feta-style cheese is especially popular!)
Meadowview Jerseys │ 172 South Farmersville Road, Leola, PA
Owners Delton and Bridgett Good tend to the cows at Meadowview Jerseys, which is home to a small on-the-farm dairy store. Here you'll find all sorts of fresh dairy products including raw milk, butter, yogurt, kefir, curds—and most importantly—cheese. With flavors like bacon cheddar and wine-washed gouda, there’s always something to tempt your taste buds.
Linden Dale Farm │ 127 Herr Road, Ronks, PA
Linden Dale Farm dates back to 1797, and was bought by John Mellinger in 1816. Since then, seven generations of Mellingers have worked this dairy farm, which transitioned from cows to goats about 10 years ago. Goat cheeses, yogurt and milk, all made with the delicious milk from their 100+ pasture-raised goat herd, can be purchased at their Lancaster Central Market stand and other locations in Lancaster and Philadelphia.
Town Clock Cheese Shoppe │ 5381 Bridge St., Gap, PA
Last, but not least, is Town Clock Cheese Shoppe. Cheesemonger Bill Houder's family has been in the cheese-selling business for 80+ years, and today he carries on that tradition. While it’s not a farm (there are no cows or goats here!), it certainly deserves a mention because of its impressive selection of local, domestic and imported artisanal cheeses that are sure to please even the most discerning palates. Here you will find an endless list of choices, from marbled blue cheese to delicate, creamy brie to aged cheddar. No matter what type of cheese you’re after, Town Clock Cheese Shop will have something just right for you.
