Downhill Thrills at Roundtop Mountain Resort
Whether you like to swoosh down double black diamonds or prefer a leisurely glide down the bunny hills, you'll find the perfect terrain for your skill level at Roundtop Mountain Resort. This premier Central Pennsylvania ski and snowboard destination is located in Lewisberry, about 45 minutes from B.F. Hiestand House. So when you stay with us this winter, make plans to take advantage of Mother Nature's white blanket of snow and enjoy an outdoor adventure only winter can offer.
Roundtop Mountain Resort has been providing outdoor recreation opportunities for generations of guests. Locals still refer to the resort as "Ski Roundtop," its original name when the resort was developed in 1964. Today, it's owned by Vail Reports, which also operates nearby Liberty and Whitetail resorts.
At Roundtop, there are 22 trails with a mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. Nine lifts will get you to the top of these slopes to start your exhilarating downhill journey. Even if Mother Nature does not cooperate, Roundtop's state-of-the-art snowmaking system ensures snowy slopes with the best snow conditions in the region. If you're a beginning skier or snowboarder, schedule a lesson with one of their experienced instructors. For the daredevil, check out Roundtop's two terrain parks for freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
If you want a downhill experience without balancing on skis or a board, try snow tubing. Similar to sledding, riders hop on an inflatable inner tube for a ride down the well-groomed paths. When it is below freezing and the snow is packed down, the lanes get fast! The slick runs are 800-feet long and have a vertical drop of 80 feet. Roundtop's 10 tubing lanes are serviced by a state-of-the art magic carpet ride that carries you up the hill and allows maximum trips down. Due to popularity, online reservations are required to book your two-hour snow tubing outing.
When you are ready to warm up or need to refuel, Roundtop has several dining options to re-energize you and get you back on the hill. The Main Lodge has an all-day food court for a quick service meal and a coffee shop for a quick snack and jolt of caffeine. The Tubing Lodge gives guests a great view of the mountain and a fire pit to warm up with hot cocoa and snacks before heading out for round two. Savor the snowy day with a burger and draft beer in the Fireside Lounge, which offers table-service dining in a cozy atmosphere. The Smokehouse offers barbecue smoked on-site and local craft beers in an outdoor courtyard with a fire pit.
Roundtop has even more ways to get outside and play in the snow with special events all winter long. Coming up on February 10 is the second annual Winter Carnival. Come out for a day of games, prizes, fire and light. There will be free pocket bacon, popcorn and hot chocolate for guests, plus food trucks for more good eats. A DJ will be spinning tunes to keep the fun going all day, along with games and hourly raffles. At the end of the night, ski down the slopes as fireworks are launched overhead from the top of the mountain. Check Roundtop's calendar of events for more fun throughout the season.
Don't let a little chill keep you indoors during your winter getaway to our cozy bed-and-breakfast. In the cold, snowy days of winter, there's nothing quite as invigorating as the crisp mountain air filling your lungs, the exhilarating rush of wind in your face, and the freedom of carving through a pristine blanket of white snow while going skiing, snowboarding or snow tubing. Head to Roundtop Mountain Resort and embrace the spirit of winter by getting outside and enjoying all that Pennsylvania's winter wonderland has to offer.
