Pennsylvania Farm Show: A Celebration of Agriculture and Community
Pigs and goats and sheep, oh my! Every January, the Pennsylvania Farm Show transforms the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg into a vibrant hub of agricultural excellence. In its 108 years, the Farm Show has grown to become the nation's largest indoor agricultural exposition and draws farmers and visitors from all over to celebrate the state's rich farming heritage. When you stay with us at B.F. Hiestand House this winter, be sure to check out this Super Bowl of Agriculture from Jan. 6-13, 2024.
Spread across 24 acres, the Farm Show highlights the diversity and vitality of Pennsylvania agriculture, giving visitors a tiny slice of the industry that employs nearly half a million people and contributes $132.5 billion to Pennsylvania's economy every year. From livestock exhibits to interactive displays, the Farm Show offers a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with every aspect of farming life.
There are thousands of competitions, educational displays and entertaining events throughout the eight-day Farm Show. Snuggle with baby goats, ride on a carousel, watch a rodeo, shop at a farm market, learn new recipes and so much more. A full schedule of events is available in the Farm Show's 100-page visitors guide.
One of the highlights is undoubtedly the Sale of Champions and Junior Market Livestock Sale, where the finest livestock from across the state compete for top honors and are sold to the highest bidder. Cattle, lambs, goats and swine are meticulously groomed and presented by proud young farmers, showcasing the dedication and hard work that goes into raising these animals. The atmosphere is electric as judges carefully evaluate each entry, crowning the Grand Champions in each category and setting the standard for excellence in livestock breeding.
The Farm Show is not just about animals; it's a comprehensive exploration of agriculture. The sprawling exhibition halls feature displays on everything from crop cultivation and sustainable farming practices to innovative farming technologies and the latest advancements in agribusiness. Farmers and agricultural experts share their knowledge and experiences, giving visitors a glimpse of the ingenuity and investments that feed families and sustain our quality of life.
