Step Back in Time at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire
Knights and jesters and minstrels... oh my! Come experience medieval merriment at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Located on the beautiful grounds of the Mount Hope Estate in Manheim, the annual festival begins in late August and runs for 11 weekends through the end of October.
Now in its 41st year, the Renaissance Faire opens its castle gates for weekends filled with jousts, music, dancing and more than 90 stage shows. You’ll find the festivities and excitement sprawled throughout their 35-acre medieval village, with an extensive cast of costumed characters who will transport you back in time. Singing minstrels, a human chess match, death-defying stunt performances, Shakespearian theatre, magic acts and, of course, jousting are just some of the special attractions guests will encounter throughout the faire.
Save plenty of time to check out the many merchants who will be on hand selling their wares from armor and swords to pottery, jewelry, trinkets and more. Immerse yourself in the time period with workshops and demonstrations on archery, blacksmithing and glass blowing.
You're sure to build up a mighty appetite during your visit to the Renaissance Faire, and will need to fuel up at one of the Royal Kitchens and Pourhouses, with many options to choose from. Her Majesty’s Kitchens offer visitors a delicious selection of 16th-century foods and traditional favorites, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free offerings. The giant Turkey Legges are not to be missed! You’ll also find a selection of ales and wines available on the grounds at several Pourhouses. Try a hearty Swashbuckler beer or one of Mount Hope's delightful wines.
Depending on your travel plans to the area, the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire hosts events throughout the year, including the Celtic Fling and Highland Games and the Mount Hope Antique Faire & Flea. Visit their website for a full schedule of events.
