Taste Your Way Along PA's Charcuterie Trail
Charcuterie is one of the hottest trends in food right now. If you're not familiar, charcuterie is cured meats often accompanied by cheese, dried fruits, nuts, spreads and other accoutrements, artistically displayed on wooden boards. A charcuterie board is a fun shared meal experience that can provide a sense of community.
In south-central Pennsylvania, we have an abundance of farmers markets, butcher shops and specialty food stores that make up a network of stops along the Chopped: A Charcuterie Trail. Here are a few of our favorites along the trail, each just a short drive from B.F. Hiestand House.
Central Market Lancaster is the oldest, continuously running public farmers market in the country. More than 60 local vendors call the historic 1889 Market House home three days each week, offering produce, prepared foods, and locally sourced meats and cheeses.
Foxxy's Country Store in Lancaster is family-owned and offers a variety of party trays with sliced or chunked meats and cheeses.
Slice of Divine Charcuterie specializes in curating unique grazing tables offering an assortment of cured meats, cheeses, fruit, olives, vegetables and nuts. Each table is creatively arranged including floral touches.
Black Swan Antiques in Palmyra is a cooperative of 60+ experienced dealers offering fine quality antiques, vintage items and collectibles all under one roof. It's also the exclusive area retail outlet for Seltzer's Lebanon Bologna meats.
Laudermilch Meats in Annville is a retail meat market that's been family owned and operated since 1919. They also have an in-house kitchen, bakery and deli with 300 freshly prepared items to choose from.
