There's something nostalgic and even a little magical about open-air ice skating – lacing up a pair of skates and gliding around on the glassy surface while you're bundled up for the crisp winter weather. It's exhilarating! When you stay at B.F. Hiestand House this winter, you can feel like a kid again when you check out Flight on Ice, the new pop-up ice rink at Park City Center in Lancaster.
Located less than 20 minutes east of our historic bed-and-breakfast, Flight on Ice has transformed the parking lot at Park City Center into a can't-miss winter destination. This is the debut season for this seasonal ice rink, which will stay open through February 26. Bring your own skates or rent them on site, then put your balancing skills to the test as you slide and twirl around this sizable recreational rink, measuring 60 feet by 100 feet. There's lively music and twinkling lights to help set the festive mood.
Adding to the fun is a robust calendar of themed events and weekly attractions. For example, Wednesdays are Movie Nights, while Fridays are Diner, Shop and Skate Under the Stars, which makes for a perfect couple's night out. Do a little shopping at Park City's 160+ stores and grab a bite to eat (J.B. Dawson's is a local favorite right at the shopping complex) before or after your invigorating skating session.
Flight on Ice is open Wednesdays through Sundays, weather permitting. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for skate rentals. There's free onsite parking, food and drinks for purchase, fun promotions, and heated hospitality tents for private parties. You can purchase tickets for your skating session when you get there, but reservations are recommended, especially during peak hours. You can reserve your spot online in advance at www.flightonice.com.
